Peer Review

A scheme for performing a peer review of research paper manuscripts submitted to publication in the Regional Synergies in Engineering & Society:

  • All submitted manuscripts are subjected to an obligatory peer review procedure.
  • The Editor-in-Chief checks each manuscript for compliance with the journal’s scope and requirements for manuscript preparation.
  • After preliminary consideration at the editorial board meeting, the manuscript is assigned to an expert reviewer (PhD or DSc) whose specialisation is the closest to the field of knowledge addressed in the paper. If the manuscript is inconsistent with the journal’s scope, the author is informed about the impossibility of its publication.
  • The type of reviewing is double-blind (anonymous). The manuscript received by a reviewer is considered the intellectual property of the author(s) and contains confidential information that must not be disclosed. Reviewers are not allowed to copy the manuscript or transfer it to another person for evaluation.
  • The duration of the peer review process should not exceed three months.

Reviewer evaluation criteria

  • The conformity of the content to the title of the paper;
  • The clarity of structure (problem statement, objectives, methodology, results, and conclusions);
  • The presence of scientific and/or technical novelty;
  • Strengths and weaknesses of the paper.

All submitted manuscripts are checked for plagiarism.

Reviewers' recommendations:

  1. Accept the manuscript for publication.
  2. Accept with minor revisions – the review is sent to the author with a request to make corrections or provide reasoned objections to the reviewer’s remarks. The revised manuscript is further considered at the editorial board meeting.
  3. Revise and resubmit (major revisions) – the review is sent to the author with a request for substantial revision. The reworked manuscript is submitted for a second round of reviewing.
  4. Reject – a reasoned denial is provided to the author. Rejected manuscripts cannot be resubmitted for reconsideration.
  • Manuscripts accepted for publication are not returned to the authors.
  • Manuscripts not accepted for publication are returned together with the reasoned denial.
